'Woven Dream's' Weaving Studio

Come and spend several days or a week at the 'Woven Dream's' Weaving Studio, a private retreat, amongst the picturesque rolling green hills of Kangaloon, in the Southern Highlands NSW. I will proudly say that we have the best country views in the world. We have spent the last 8 years designing and building the perfect studio, so would love to share that with you from 2020 for the creative soul. Facilities are similar to a boutique hotel.

Treat yourself to some blissful time away from your busy world and indulge yourself in a serene and creativity environment. The perfect creative retreat for yourself in a perfect serene environment. Come alone or with a friend.

You will also be staying at Natalie’s new property which boasts spectacular views of the green rolling hills of Kangaloon, magical sunrises and sunsets. The accommodation is separate from the main house and is below the weaving studio. It is a high end architectural, environmentally built house.  It has twin beds (twin accom only) and a bathroom. You may be the only one staying however there may be another weaver as well sharing the large room which has a small lounge area. It has access directly to outside with amazing views. Everything is provided for you, all amenities, all meals and drinks, all equipment, and all set in a perfect setting.

Three delicious healthy meals a day will be made from the majority of local produce. Local meat, eggs and bread. Vegetarians and food allergies are catered for.

There is a pool, spa, external eating / lounge area and yoga deck, not to mention the breathtaking views. 

Costs:

$420 AUD pp per day

Includes  accommodation, all meals, snacks and drinks (including wine at dinner) , full access day and night to weaving studio, looms, equipment and tools and 3 hours of  tuition (9.30am - 12.30am) each day. Any tuition beyond that is additional. Excludes weaving materials (wool and cotton).

Specials:

5 nights or more receive an additional night free.

I've never woven before, is it suitable for me?:

Absolutely. Absolute Beginner weavers through to advance weavers are welcome.

Material costs:

Hand dyed wool is sold at $20 per 100g (weighed and paid for at the end of your stay).

A large weaving ( woven over 5 days on a scaffold loom) say 700 x 1200mm is approx. 2kg - 3kg depending on detail and texture. approx. $400-$600

The weave on a large Ashford loom ( 2 days is approx. 1kg) approx. $200

Looms available: (and min amount days required to complete works)

Scaffold looms (large tapestry) require at least 5 days to do 700mm x 1200mm. Larger will require longer.

Can I buy the Ashford loom? Yes you can. The large loom is $62. You can also buy additional wool to weave at home.

Can I bring my own wool:  Unfortunately you cant, however I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised with the amount of colours that are available to you.

Can I weave all day and night: Yes you can. Tuition time is 9.30 - 12.30 however you can weave on your own after that as long as you like, practicing your skills.

I want to learn natural dyeing:  Natalie can teach you natural dyeing in the afternoon a 3 hour session (2 - 5pm). Cost is an additional $350 and you will take home 1kg of naturally dyed hand dyed Australian 12ply wool. (value $220) You will experiment with Eucalyptus leaves, turmeric, onion skins, cochineal and indigo. 

How many other people will be there:  Well there is accommodation for 2 people only in twin share accommodation, if 3 of you want to come together, a roll away bed is available for additional costs.

Otherwise there will only be a max of 2 people staying at anytime.

How do I get to Kangaloon:

Drive:

Kangaloon is 1.45 hours drive south of  Sydney. Parking available onsite

Train:

Bowral station is 2 hours from Sydney’s International and Domestic airport.

Pick up from Bowral train station ($30 per car each way) 30 mins drive away

Activities:

Apart from weaving, a private yoga lesson or massage can be organised at additional cost. There is a wonderful pool with spectacular views (heated in winter). Long country morning or afternoon walks or waterfall visits can be organised.

Deposits:

25% deposit required for accommodation (non-refundable), Balance due 14 days prior. Min. 2 nights accommodation.
